SHRI ARVIND M. MEHTA

Chairman - AIPMA Governing Council
Chairman - AIPMA Export Cell
Chairman - AIPMA’s AMTEC

Greetings from Team Export Cell!!

It is a proud moment for all of us to once again witness the unfolding of a visionary initiative by AIPMA Export Study Cell. - the compilation of data of plastics finished goods imported by top 21 countries from the world, where India’s export share is hardly 1%. Means golden opportunity for Indian plastic industry to export plastic finished goods in these countries and increase our market share. For example, USA is top importer having share of 12%of the world’s import where as our share is only 1%. We feel that it is possible to boost India’s export by 4X in the next 3 years.

The global plastic trade is valued at approximately USD 1,300 billion, while India’s share in exports stands at just USD 12.5 billion - around 0.96% of the global total. Recognizing this gap, AIPMA has taken a bold step by establishing an Export Cell dedicated to studying and enhancing the export of finished plastic goods from India.

We Studied Export data of 21 Countries and 9 HSN chapters covering more than 900 codes. The data are strategically compiled giving in-depth insights into each Country’s export analysis. For the sake of comparison, we have given export data of India, China and Viet Nam for each line item in target countries. This book serves as both a reference Manual and a guide for our MSME to serve the world as a reliable, sustainable, and innovation-driven sourcing hub for plastic finished products. Amidst global shifts in trade dynamics, India is rising as the preferred partner - offering quality, scale, and trust.

The All India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association (AIPMA) has launched a dedicated Export Cell, we are determined to boost India’s export of plastic finished goods by 4X in next 3 years. As part of this initiative, the Export Book has been launched - a strategic move to engage with buyers from the world’s top importing countries and to showcase India’s diverse range of products.

We have observed that 14 countries in the world account for 67% of imports under chapter 39 including raw material. Our share in export to the world is languishing at just 1%. AIPMA is determined to change this situation and push our manufacturers to gear up for export. We feel that 4X growth in export is easily achievable if all of us join hands together in the supply chain with the support and blessings of the Government of India.

Indian Plastic industry is mainly comprising of MSME sector, more than 50,000 units are run by individual entrepreneur. Today it is generating employment for more than 4.6 million people direct and indirectly. New generation is enterprising and technically sound. Today our products are being exported in more than 125 countries and are of global standard.

We found an eye opening data during our study which is complied in more than 2100 pages. I would like to give you a very short summary of our study. In 21 top countries, market share of India’s export in the 9 HSN chapter study is as follows.

ATTACH EXCELL - Overall 21 Countries Share of Export

Friends, please turn more pages of these massive database find your product based on your HSN code. Find market potential for your product and tighten your belt. Huge market is awaiting for you to tap. If China, Viet Nam and other can do it then we can also do it. We have labor pool of 1.45 billion people.

Our Hon’ble Prime Minister has given us a vision of “Atma Nirbhar Bharat”. We undertook a study of import substitution in past. We are now pushing for another vision of our Prime Minister: Make in India, Make for the world”. By exporting your product you are not just expanding your business but you are helping our nation to improve Foreign Exchange reserve and trade balance with many countries.

To bridge the technology gap and speed to market AIPMA has started AMTEC – a center of excellence of technology to help industry for not only making 3D prototypes, but also helping by upskilling young people. By this initiative, industry is receiving more trained workforce to design and produce innovative products. We are proud to state that till date 1000 students are upskilled in this center. About 200 of them received placement in the companies like Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Jyoti Plastics etc., receiving annual remuneration between 3-5 lacs rupees.

Let us come together, explore synergies, and build bridges for a stronger export future.

I extend a warm invitation to all stakeholders to be part of this movement and to show the power of Indian plastic manufacturing excellence by boosting export of plastic finished goods by 4X, with hand holding by Government of India and all state governments.
